The Upson Historical Society (UHS) strives to appreciate, promote, and understand our democratic way of life by preserving, sharing, and celebrating the unique history of Thomaston and Upson County.

Vision Statement

The Upson Historical Society seeks a greater understanding of the people and heritage of Thomaston and Upson County to inspire and enhance appreciation and a shared sense of community. 

Understanding the significance of preserving the records of the past for the sake of the present and future generations brought a small group of Thomaston and Upson County citizens together on May 31, 1967, to create the Upson Historical Society. We actively engage in the collection of documents, artifacts, and structures of historical significance. Through the passing decades, the Society has not ceased to sponsor trips, tours, and special events as ways to stimulate the interest of the community in its history and heritage.
