In conjunction with the Thomaston-Upson County Bicentennial Committee and Upson Historical Society, the Ocmulgee Archaeological Society will hold a community archaeology day on March 8.
From noon to 4 p.m., the afternoon will include archaeological activities and education at the Pettigrew-White-Stamps House, located at 800 South Church Street in Thomaston.
Activities include artifact identification, pottery making, Georgia Indian crafts, and tours of the PWS House.
Attendees are invited to bring prehistoric and historic artifacts to be identified by a panel of experts, learn how Georgia native ancestors made pottery, and solve archaeological puzzles, according to OAS Secretary/Treasurer Stephen Hammock.
