Summer Camp field trips and Home School groups are a great way for your children to learn about Thomaston and Upson County. We can tailor your tour to your special interests on how WWII affected our area. You will learn about how the entire town participated in the war efforts, including turning our textile mills into textile mills making cotton canvas for uniforms and tire duct cloth. Even the children participated by selling war bonds, counting ration stamps and even weeding the Victory Garden.
The tour will start at the Thomaston Upson Archives and finish at the Upson Historical Society, the Pettigrew, White, Stamps House. One adult per 10 children is required for the tour.
Please call: (706) 601 3610 or email us at upsonhistoricalsociety1968@gmail.com for more information or to book your tour.
